The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
