The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
