The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
