Deem not that God is heedless of what the evildoers work; He is only deferring them to a day when eyes shall stare, 42 when they shall run with their necks outstretched and heads erect, their glances never return to themselves, their hearts are empty. 43 Warn mankind of the Day when the punishment will overtake them, when the evildoers will say: 'Our Lord, grant us respite for awhile, we will answer Your call, and follow the Messengers' Did you not once swear that you would never cease? 44 And yet, you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who had sinned against their own selves [before your time,] and it was made obvious to you how We had dealt with them: for We have set forth unto you many a parable [of sin, resurrection and divine retribution]." 45 Still they are plotting their plots, but evident are their plots to God, even though they are so adroit as to make the mountains move. 46 Do not think that Allah will break the promise He gave to His Messengers. Mighty is Allah, and Vengeful. 47 On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible. 48 On that Day you shall see the guilty bound in chains, 49 Their garments of liquid pitch, and their faces covered with Fire; 50 That Allah may repay each soul what it hath earned. Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning. 51 This is a clear message for mankind in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is only One Allah, and that men of understanding may take heed. 52
