Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
