Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them.
