Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If He wills, He can calm the winds so the ships remain still on the sea surface; indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 33 Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. 41 The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment. 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
