The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
