The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
