The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
