Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
