The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still desires more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
