The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
