The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And no trifle. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
