The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
