The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
