Al-Alaq
The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
