Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
