The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
