The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
