(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
