The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
