We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
