The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
