The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
