The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
