The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
