The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But save him who fears 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
