Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in an exalted garden 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
