The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 purify your garments; 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
