The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
