He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
