The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
