The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
