And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
