And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
