S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Saad* – By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
