Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
