Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
