Al-Haaqqah 2 of 2
So I do call to witness what ye see, 38 And what ye see not, 39 because the Quran is certainly the word of a reverent messenger. 40 It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye believe! 41 Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember. 42 Sent down by the Lord Of The Creation. 43 And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings, 44 We would have seized him by the right hand 45 then We would surely have cut his life-vein 46 not one of you could have prevented it from him. 47 But verily this is a Message for the Allah-fearing. 48 And behold, well do We know that among you are such as will give the lie to it: 49 It is surely the nemesis of unbelievers. 50 And verily it is the truth of assured certainty. 51 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 52

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
