The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
