The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
