Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands did not make it; will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign unto them is the night. We draw off the day therefrom, and lo! they are darkened. 37 While the sun keeps revolving in its orbit. This is the dispensation of the mighty, all-knowing (God). 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 and then created for them other vessels like those on which they ride. 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 and no message of their Sustainer's messages ever reaches them without their turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
