The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
