The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
