The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
