The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
