The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
