The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
