A large group from the earlier generations. 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they used to persist in the great violation, 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
